Introductions

Hi. I am the person who runs this site and creates all the art you hear, see, and read here. I go by Moss to maintain some anonymity and because it describes what I create well.

The idea behind the name is that “Midori” means green in Japanese and moss is a rootless plant. I like to garden, love seeing moss grow around my property, and feel that a rootless plant that never flowers describes an artist that really has few or no connections, does everything in a DIY way, and spreads itself independently like it has a mind of its own well.

Right now I’m working on an EP that I hope will be a good introduction to the music I make. I’ve been making and releasing music for almost twenty years now and this project feels the most mature and purposeful of all. I’m not a 14 year old who has no idea what he’s doing anymore and I’m not a middle aged dad-rocker either. It’s the perfect time for this project to take root and push the sound I’ve been working toward my whole life forward.

This isn’t something I expect to sustain me financially and I don’t expect a large following or anything like that. I’m just a person making music, releasing art into the world because I want to. I do hope it touches a lot of people but what’s more important is making the best music I can and worrying about the money much later (maybe never). I just always remember that you can only control the input but not how people respond to your work.

The first EP is going to come out early in 2024, not long after New Year’s Day. Hope you like it and I’ll think of something more interesting to write for next time.
